DTU (Delhi Technological University) Delhi
DTU, formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), is one of the most prestigious engineering institutions in India, known for its high academic standards and cutting-edge research. Located in the heart of Delhi, DTU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various engineering fields.
DTU was established in 1941 as Delhi Polytechnic, was Delhi’s first engineering college and was among the few engineering colleges in India set up before independence. In 1952, DTU affiliated to Faculty of Engineering – University of Delhi and then it started formal degree level engineering programs.
DTU was under the Government of Delhi since 1963 and was affiliated with the Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi from 1952 to 2009. In 2009, the college was given university status, thus changing its name to Delhi Technological University.
Till 1989, Delhi Technological University (Delhi College of Engineering) operated from the heart of Old Delhi in Kashmere Gate. Moving operations started in 1995 from Kashmere Gate to the new 164 acres at Bawana Road Rohini and the new campus formally started classes for 4-years of study in 1999.
In 2017, DTU started a second campus in Vivek Vihar (East Delhi) in the name of “University School of Management and Entrepreneurship”. Currently, the new DTU campus USME offers MBA, MBA Business Analytics, BBA and BA in Economics.

DTU Delhi: Admission
Admission to B.Tech programs offered at DTU Delhi is done through CRL (Common Rank List) in JEE Main and the counseling conducted by JAC (Joint Admission Committee) New Delhi.
JAC (Joint Admission Committee) New Delhi handles the centralized counseling and admission process for undergraduate engineering, architecture, and management programs in Delhi Government Funded Premier Universities like DTU, NSUT, IIIT Delhi, IGDTUW and DSEU.
An initiative of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi in 2014, to avoid multiple admission counseling and save the candidates and their guardian from the resulting inconvenience because of shifting of students from one institution to the other during the admission process.
To participate in the counseling conducted by the JAC New Delhi, you need to meet the minimum eligibility criteria prescribed by the respective institutes participating in the JAC New Delhi.
Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Admission in DTU Delhi
Candidates belonging to open or general category must have secured 60% or more marks in an aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and have passed English (Core or Elective) as a mandatory subject of study at the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination or equivalent examination AND have JEE Main (Paper I) Rank
Note: Candidates who will appear at the annual examination in 2026 and have been placed in compartment (supplementary) will not be eligible for admission for the year 2026.
Minimum Marks Criteria for Reserved Students
Candidates belonging to various reserved categories such as OBC (NCL), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and sub-categories namely, Defence, Persons with Disabilities, for them the minimum marks criteria in qualifying examination (10+2)
- Other Backward Class (OBC-NCL): 55%
- Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST): 50%
- Defence (DW): 55%
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 50%
Note: There is no marks relaxation for EWS (Economically Weaker Section) category candidates.

DTU Delhi: Regional Reservation
If a candidate is from Delhi or nearby Delhi, then he/she will have 85% seats reserved at DTU Delhi and the rest 15% seats are for the candidates belonging to outside Delhi region.
A candidate will be considered as Delhi Region Candidate or Outside Delhi Region Candidate will decide based on the location of their school / college / institute where they are studying or have passed 10+2 or Std. 12th or the qualifying examination.
Who are Delhi Region Candidates
If their school / college / institute located within the National Capitol Territory (NCT) of Delhi, they will be considered for Delhi Region Only.
Who are Outside Delhi Region Candidates
If their school / college / institute located outside the National Capitol Territory (NCT) of Delhi, they will be considered for Delhi Region Only.
☞ If you are studying or have passed 10+2 or Std. 12th or qualifying examination from NIOS or Patrachar Vidyalaya Delhi, your candidature will be considered based on the location of your centre of examination.
For Example: If your centre of examination is located within the NCT of Delhi, you will be considered under the Delhi Region Candidates and if your centre of examination is located outside NCT of Delhi, you will be considered under the Outside Delhi Region Candidates.
