VJTI Mumbai was founded in 1887 as Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute with two departments, the Sir J. J. School of Mechanical Engineering and the Ripon Textile School. It expanded over the years and added few more departments such as Electrical Engineering in 1903, Technical & Applied Chemistry in 1906 and Sanitary Engineering in 1913.
In 1913, VJTI Mumbai is recognized as the Central Technological Institute of Bombay Province, it was initially located in Byculla housed in a building donated by Sir Dinshaw Maneckji Petit.
After the First World War in 1923, the college relocated to its current campus in Matunga, the Government and the Bombay Mill Owners Association facilitated this move.
In 1913, by the support of Sir Ness Wadia, a new block featuring northern light roof construction was constructed to accommodate textile machinery and equipment.
In the late 1940s, VJTI introduced bachelor’s degree programs in Textile, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
On the Republic Day of 1997, Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute (VJTI) was renamed to Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) in tribute to the mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

(iii) The Candidate should have appeared in all the subjects in PCM MHT-CET and obtained non zero score in PCM MHT-CET conducted by the Competent Authority and/or obtained non zero positive score in Joint Entrance Test (JEE) (Main) Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech).
