BMS College of Engineering is a private engineering college affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, popularly known as BMSCE, Bangalore. The college is approved by AICTE & UGC, New Delhi. BMS College of Engineering was established in the year 1946.

The college was founded by the late Sri Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah, followed by his son, the late Sri B.S. Narayan. It is managed by the BMS Educational Trust. The college is run by its chairman, Dr. P. Dayananda Pai, Dr. B.S. Ragini Narayan, and other trustees. The trust runs two flagship engineering colleges: BMSCE & BMSIT, and two architecture colleges. BMS Institute of Technology & Management is the sister institute of BMS College of Engineering.

KCET – Karnataka Common Entrance Test

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test or KCET is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for admission to undergraduate engineering, pharmacy, agricultural and other courses offered by government as well as private colleges in Karnataka.

Every year it is held in the last week of April and first week of May. KCET is deliberately conducted for students who have completed or appearing for their Grade 12^th from Karnataka or who have studied for more than 7 years in Karnataka.

KCET score is used to get admission into various courses such as engineering, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, agriculture, horticulture, fishery, veterinary, etc. offered in the government, private, and autonomous institutions across the Karnataka state.

On successful appearance in the KCET exam, candidates must participate in the counselling process to secure seats based on their ranks and preferences. 100% of the seats in government engineering colleges are filled through the counselling process and approximately 45% to 50% of seats in private engineering colleges get filled through the counselling process.

COMEDK Undergraduate Entrance Test (COMEDK UGET)

Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation have formed “Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka” (COMEDK) for conducting a common entrance examination, and centralized counselling for admission into member institutions.

COMEDK UGET is usually conducted every year in first or second week of May, students from outside Karnataka as well as from Karnataka state can appear in this exam for admission to B.E./B.Tech engineering programs in Karnataka’s private colleges.

Around 30% to 35% of the seats in the private engineering colleges get filled through the COMEDK counselling process.

BMS College Direct Admission through Management Quota

With the permission of VTU and the government of Karnataka, BMS College of Engineering can fill some of the seats (around 25% of seats) directly without considering the entrance exam rank, these seats are called Management Quota Seats.

Management or Trust of BMS College of Engineering is whole and sole responsible for the allocation of Management Quota seats, and the students have to pay higher tuition fees for these seats that depend on the engineering branch which they are getting admission to.

BMS College Direct Admission through NRI Quota
