DTU was established in 1941 as Delhi Polytechnic, was Delhi’s first engineering college and was among the few engineering colleges in India set up before independence. In 1952, DTU affiliated to Faculty of Engineering – University of Delhi and then it started formal degree level engineering programs.

DTU was under the Government of Delhi since 1963 and was affiliated with the Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi from 1952 to 2009. In 2009, the college was given university status, thus changing its name to Delhi Technological University.

Till 1989, Delhi Technological University (Delhi College of Engineering) operated from the heart of Old Delhi in Kashmere Gate. Moving operations started in 1995 from Kashmere Gate to the new 164 acres at Bawana Road Rohini and the new campus formally started classes for 4-years of study in 1999.

In 2017, DTU started a second campus in Vivek Vihar (East Delhi) in the name of “University School of Management and Entrepreneurship”. Currently, the new DTU campus USME offers MBA, MBA Business Analytics, BBA and BA in Economics.

DTU Delhi offers 17 Undergraduate Engineering Programs and 25 Postgraduate Engineering Programs.

A wide of range of facilities have been provided to the students to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere as well as a pleasant stay in campus.

More than 380 students have received offers above 20 LPA and around 645 offers between 10 to 20 LPA. The average package for 2025 batch is 17.09 LPA and the highest domestic package is 85 LPA offered by Ebullient.

Admission to B.Tech programs offered at DTU Delhi is done through CRL (Common Rank List) in JEE Main and the counselling conducted by JAC (Joint Admission Committee) New Delhi.

To participate in the counselling conducted by the JAC New Delhi, you need to meet the minimum eligibility criteria prescribed by the respective institutes participating in the JAC New Delhi.

Candidates belonging to open or general category must have secured 60% or more marks in an aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and have passed English (Core or Elective) as a mandatory subject of study at the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination or equivalent examination AND have JEE Main (Paper I) Rank

Note: Candidates who will appear at the annual examination in 2026 and have been placed in compartment (supplementary) will not be eligible for admission for the year 2026.
