PES University
PES University is a private university established in 1988 as PESIT (PES Institute of Technology) with the objective of providing world-class education and fostering innovation and research among students. PES University is managed by People’s Education Society (PES) which was founded in 1973, in a rented gym in Bangalore with around 40 students. Currently PES University manages over 45 educational programs in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, with a total of over 18,000 students.
PES University was started as PESIT in 1988 as the first engineering college under PES Group of Institutions. The college was then affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belagavi, and later it became and autonomous institution under VTU.
Over the years, it has grown into a prestigious institution known for academic rigor and industry-oriented teaching, and then in the year 2013 PESIT got the university status and renamed as PES University.

Option No. 1: KCET and Counselling
Option No. 2: JEE Main and Counselling

KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test)
The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is an annual state-level examination conducted by the KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority). It is intended for students who have completed or are appearing for their 12th Grade exams.
KCET scores are used to determine admission into various professional undergraduate courses offered by government, private, and autonomous institutions in Karnataka.
Students from the Karnataka state or studied for more than 7 years in Karnataka, they can only appear KCET entrance exam.
KCET entrance exam provides access to a range of professional courses in engineering, medicine, architecture, pharmacy, agriculture, and more, into government, private, and autonomous colleges in Karnataka.
PES University offers 40% of their total intake to KCET appearing students, through the counselling conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).

JEE Main or Joint Entrance Examination Main
The Joint Entrance Exam or JEE Main, formerly All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate technical programs such as Engineering, Architecture, and Planning across colleges and universities in India.
JEE Main is mainly conducted for admission in premier technical institutions like National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) for B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Planning courses.
45% of the total intake at PES University for Engineering programs is allocated for JEE Main and KCET Quota.
As the students from outside Karnataka couldn’t appear KCET, they can appear into JEE Main and apply for PES University counselling process.
Just appearing in the JEE Main Exam is not enough to get admission to PES University for B.Tech or Engineering programs, registration for PES University for the respective program is mandatory.
PES University Direct Admission in Management Quota
15% of the seats in PES University are allocated for Management Quota or Higher Fee Category. Under this Quota PES University Direct Admission can be done directly, your entrance exam rank doesn’t interfere in your admission process.
As the name suggests Higher Fee Category, PES University Direct Admission for Engineering course will be possible if you are ready to pay higher tuition fees for the respective engineering courses.
Fee structure for PES University Direct Admission in Management Quota will be 2 to 2.5 times of the JEE Main Quota fees, which we will see later in this article.
