The Birla Education Trust, founded in 1929 started an intermediate college with Science and Pharmacy in 1943 and 1950 respectively, between those two colleges the Birla College of Engineering came into the existence in 1946 with degree programs Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.

In 1955, master’s degree program in Electronics was introduced in the Birla College of Engineering. And then in 1964, the Birla College of Science, Engineering and Pharmacy were incorporated to form the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS).

BITS Pilani conferred as a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 on 18th June 1964, tied up with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston (USA).

Eligibility for BITS Pilani

Candidates must have completed their 12^th grade examination under the 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or an equivalent qualification.

A minimum of five subjects is required, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, one Language, and any additional subject beyond these four.

Candidates must secure: An aggregate of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology, and at least 60% marks in each of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics individually.

BITS Pilani Fee Structure

The Fee Structure for BITS Pilani for Integrated First Degree (B.E., M.Sc., and B.Pharm) Programs for the Academic Year 2025-26 was 5,50,000/- per annum (2,75,000/- per semester).
